The God Who Had An Affair With Himself
The concept behind the title has a mixed bag of 'virtues'... if the word 'virtue' can be used with a certain amount of poetic license that is... It's about sensuality, desire, fire, darkness, spirituality, nostalgia and Oneness.
I've always felt that through humanity's imagination and the weaving of imagery and power- and lets throw in for false modesty- morals (and I use that word advisedly) - that the character of god as defined by man is somewhat vain. Which probably compliments humanity more than we realise. After all the idea of god is not just an extension of human possibilities through an evolutionary process... but it is the ultimate in flattery of our own species.
After all- it was our ancestors who called those who sat on thrones: gods. And even in this day and age we elevate human beings to lofty heights: saints…. whilst ignoring their flaws and focusing upon their good deeds. Which is what happens when idolisation takes place. Through these articles of faith and hope we prove that not only do we fear death but also fear life itself. We throw away the legacy of spiritual development in favour of elevating others regardless of The AGENDA.
And why not? It's easier to believe and have faith in someone else as opposed to having faith in oneself. We are inextricably linked to man made god, we share so many commonalities, emotionally as well as physically; but above all.... our species - thanks to the most outspoken philosophers of life - whether dead or alive - have declared ourselves the centre of the universe... and thusly strive to become that which we created: deity.
In essence we are Gods having an Affair with ourselves.
