The Temple

Designation: Haven

Location: The In’ta’la System

Population:100

In the In’ta’la system an ancient civilization known as the Quatl’Ama’Tua, The Sleeping Butterfly Gods, are prematurely in the midst of resuscitation from a centuries long hibernation. Orbiting the galaxy, akin to a comet, is a bio mechanical satellite of antiquity. Sentient and alive emitting a continuous message on every bandwidth, informing space mariners that this particular region is prohibited, in a tongue long forgotten.

For a year an alien species has occupied a planet they have named Haven. Pockets of communities are thriving in the planets harsh environment. Having abandoned technology in favour of pre industrialization, make shift hamlets have sprung from the carcasses of the ships they arrived in.

Methodically scanning each moon and celestial body in its vicinity for signs of infestation, a shard of the satellite breaks off and hurtles into Havens’ atmosphere. Transforming into a tzeradon, a phoenix-like creature with iridescent plumage, it rides the currents soaring free: searching. Its designation is Tzaboath, a sentinel with four directives: Protect. Investigate. Assess. Cleanse.

Simultaneously a figure dressed in shaman winter garb replete with boots, leggings and brigandine is traveling with his companion, a sentient bear. Bonded as younglings, Bel and Auraia, share a unique psychic connection. They journey along an almost snowy terrain leading them to Juradh, a small hamlet, their home. In relief are the snow capped mountains of the Meloa Range. The harsh terrain means traveling will be tediously slow but their destination will be reached within three moons, The Harmonies willing, just in time for the Samedhi festival.

Bel gently rocks to and ‘fro with the almost hypnotic gait of Auraia whose saddle is made ofvarious fabrics that becomes a tent when assembled. Behind him are packed equipment and supplies. Setting up camp for the night, breaking their fast, they drink soma and enter a trance like state together.

In their joint vision they see:

A tzeradon: a rare bird, considered as a totem, is looking fiercely at them. It transforms into a humanoid figure. A sentinel. Naked. Androgynous. Dressed as an exotic tribesman, with obsidian metallic skin, holding an alruane crystal staff. On his bald head sits a circlet complimenting the rest of his bejewelled body. Its presence is its armour. As the alien speaks an unnatural darkness consumes the land.

“This is our temple. You are not permitted to worship here!” Thunders the emissary to them both.

Apparitions flood the night, indescribable beings wearing incomprehensible abstract bodies with inscrutable minds, stare directly at the two companions.

Snapping abruptly out of their shared Dreamwalk, disconcerted, perturbed, afraid, Bel and Auraia hastily break camp. As Noah warned his people of an inevitable cataclysm, the two companions, follow in his footsteps. Passing settlements on their journey home, delivering the message as Noah before them, they’re disbelieved.

Bel looks up, overhead, a tzeradon flies squawking a warning. The Quatl’Ama’Tua are awake and angry.
